Good to know

I am the mother of an energetic 4 year old son we call weeman. He loves any kind of sport and that includes golf. I never thought I would see a four year old so excited about golf. He also watches Nascar, football of any kind and he absolutely loves baseball. He has also found my love of music which makes me happy to no end.

I met the man of my dreams 13 years ago while I was visiting my brother in Hawaii. We have been married for 11 years. It has been one crazy roller coaster. I married into the military which moved me to our nation’s capital. A place  I didn’t think I would ever live. After spending 7 years there we finally moved home to Georgia. I also married a northeastern boy. Our world are so different that we just don’t get each other sometimes. It has made for some funny times.

In September of ’03 we had our first son. He was born at 29 weeks while we were on vacation in Boston. He fought hard for 6 days, but then had to fight multiple infections. When he was 11 days old we decided that the fight was too much and let him go. The nurse had told my mother that it was only a matter of time; his stats kept dropping. I know that he is always with us no matter where we go.

We are currently in the middle of infertility treatments. I’m hoping that will lead to a little girl for me to play dress up with. I don’t know what this ride has in store for us, but I know that we are strong enough to face whatever challenges come our way.

The name of this blog came from the realization that no matter what happens in life, you have to keep putting one foot in front of the other. That’s exactly what I did after my son passed away. Every time someone asks me how they are going to get through a difficult time I tell them they have to get up and put one foot in front of the other. It seems to have become my mantra.
